The story is simple here. Bocchi is a nervous person who likes playing her guitar. She is fairly famous online but doesn't really interact with people at school. That is until she runs into a chance encounter with someone looking to fill up a spot on their band. Then we see Bocchi slowly become part of this band and hang out with her new bandmates expierencing more of life. It's nice and their a lot of good moments seeing Bocchi get more comfortable being out and about and her slowly being able to play in a band because although she is really good on her own playing in the band something completely different. It's a nice premise that is excecuted well. I can defenitely see the story getting even better with the next upcoming season.
Bocchi is defenitely he stand out character here. With her nervous personality its fun to see how she reacts in all these new scenarios with her new bandmates. Ikuyo I think had the second most spotlight this first season with her story with joining the band after Bocchi. Her learning to be able to play the guitar from Bocchi was very nice to develop both their characters. I really like when a story develops two characters with their interactions. It's just like wow double development. Great story and I can see Nijika getting more developed throughout the rest of the story. Of course Ryou was very cool as well.
The story mostly takes place in the performance area where Bocchi and the band perform and work. School is also used a secondary setting. The setting doesn't have too much signifigance compared to the characters but are still used effectively. The stakes of what the bands to achieve are established and progress accordingly. It doesn't leave you feeling like they progress too slowly. The world is effective to support the other aspects of the show.
The music is obviously great. Its a band anime. The songs they perform are great and the ost that plays throughout the series is fitting and nice. Really great music as expected from a good band anime.
The animation is nice. It's fairly standard as not too much extreme movement happens unless Bocchi and the band are performing. When they perform the animation is nice and smooth. Throughout the show their is some very creative animation choices that give the anime a lot of personality which I love. There are also some funny refrences. Honestly awesome and can't wait for the next season.
